TCGRx and Parata Systems Merge to Create Pharmacy Automation Leader

Combined company provides technologies to empower pharmacy teams to help their patients lead healthier lives

Powers Lake, WI and Durham, NC; December 3, 2018 – Pharmacy packaging and automation provider TCGRx, a portfolio company of Frazier Healthcare Partners, today announced the acquisition of Parata Systems. Established leaders in medication adherence packaging and high speed automated robotic dispensing technologies, TCGRx and Parata have combined to create a new market leader focused on providing pharmacy technology solutions that support business growth, better health outcomes and lower medical costs.

Together, TCGRx and Parata currently have more than 4,500 medication adherence packagers, inspection systems and vial-filling robots installed in retail, long term care, hospital, government and mail order pharmacies throughout North America. In addition to these pharmacy automation technologies, the company will expand on their existing growth initiatives with central fill, inventory control and automated blister card packaging technologies to meet the broad needs of their pharmacy customers.

Duane Chudy, founder of TCGRx, commented, “TCGRx’s merger with Parata provides a major growth opportunity for both our businesses through extended solution and service offerings for our customers. As pharmacies elevate their role in the healthcare ecosystem, we will be best positioned to support them on their journey.”

Mark Longley, Parata Executive Vice President of Sales, added, “Pharmacies are under intense pressure to deliver exceptional service in the most cost-effective manner possible, all while enhancing the patient experience. The combination of our collective resources will allow us to accelerate the pace of innovation and better meet the rapidly evolving needs of our pharmacy customers.”

The combined company will operate under the Parata Systems brand and will be headquartered in Durham, North Carolina with additional facilities in southern Wisconsin. Current TCGRx CEO Rob Kill will lead the combined organization, and Duane Chudy will serve as Vice Chairman with the remainder of the leadership team drawn from the executive teams of both companies.

Former Parata CEO, D.J. Dougherty, has chosen to pursue other career interests. Rob Kill stated, “We are thrilled that we were able to bring these two outstanding organizations together and look forward to an exciting future for the company.
