Beacon® Solution Reduces Pharmacy Footprint, Optimizes Inventory Management Efficiencies
Ahold USA’s Giant Carlisle division recently piloted a center store pharmacy in Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania, implementing the TCGRx Beacon Inventory Management System to help reduce the pharmacy’s footprint, while also streamlining workflow and optimizing inventory management. Giant Carlisle plans to pilot the Beacon solution at its York, Pennsylvania location in the fall of 2016, then evaluate other pharmacies across the division to pilot. Ahold USA supports four divisions that operate581 pharmacies in 11 states across the northeastern United States.
The partnership with TCGRx has enabled Ahold USA to pilot a proof of concept design utilizing a center store pharmacy to enhance its visibility. The Beacon solution, which integrates with Giant Carlisle’s existing pharmacy information system, provides efficiencies in both inventory management and customer pick-up, to grow the number of prescriptions filled. According to Luke Barnes, senior manager of pharmacy technology at Ahold USA, “The efficiencies gained through the Beacon implementation expedites workflow, saving time for customers.”
By employing Beacon’s high density shelving units, Ahold USA presents a cleaner, more organized pharmacy utilizing a smaller footprint. “The TCGRx solution is really slick looking,” said Barnes, “and provides a great solution to house inventory.” Beacon’s will call solution, DeliverRx™, facilitates returning aging prescriptions to stock and finding prescriptions quickly at the time of pick-up. “The TCGRx team has been great throughout the sales and implementation process. They are very easy to work with and respond to questions and issues very quickly,” continued Barnes.
